Records reduce a buyer's uncertainty
Documentation does not make a car mechanically better, but it removes doubt. A buyer pricing an undocumented car has to assume deferred maintenance and discount accordingly. Records replace that assumption with fact.
Targeted records matter most
Every BMW engine family has service items owners and buyers routinely discuss. Invoices addressing exactly those items are more persuasive than a thick folder of routine oil changes.
- Dated invoices from a specialist or dealer, with mileage recorded.
- Cooling system, fuel system and suspension work on generations where those are common questions.
- Evidence of who performed the work, not only that it was performed.
- A continuous record with no unexplained multi-year gaps.
How to present them
Photograph the invoices, order them by date, and summarise the significant items in the listing itself. A buyer who can see the history before contacting you arrives to a shorter negotiation.
